Race Results for 5/23/2009
Highland, IL (May 23, 2009) Another stellar field of racecars packed the pit area at Highland Speedway. There were twenty-seven UMP Super Late Models on hand and the night got off to a rough start when as Rodney Standerfer flipped violently in the first heat race. Once the feature event got underway, Mark Voigt of Marine, Illinois took command from his front row outside starting spot and led almost the entire way until engine troubles sidelined him late in the event. That turned the lead over to Chad Zobrist, who had started fifth and moved up to second when Voigt had his engine troubles. Zobrist would fight off the challenge of Michael Kloos and pick up the win. Rick Salter would finish third. Mark Faust would recover from a crash in his heat race to win the consolation event and then dash through the field to a fourth place finish in the main event. Pole sitter Dan Jacober would round out the top five.
In the UMP Modified division, Dean Hoffman claimed his first victory of the 2009 racing season at Highland Speedway. Mike Harrison would claim the second spot with Robbie Eilers, Steve Ellison and Tyler Diebert rounding out the top five.
Russell Eilers continued his domination in the UMP Sportsman division as he won his sixth feature event out of eight tries here in the 2009 racing season. Allan Geiseking had his best run on the season as he claimed the second spot. Justin Durbin took third with Greg Spencer and Rick Johnson completing the top five.
Jeremy Pate claimed his first Street Stock main event of the 2009 season at Highland Speedway. Michael Ripperda, Jr would finish second with Jake Hewitt third, TJ Eilers fourth and AJ Cline fifth.
Bob Zbinden won his fourth Factory Stock feature event of the season as he bested Justin Suhre for the win. Austin Isaak took the third spot with Dan Dodson and Jeremy Izard rounding out the top five.
