Sunday, September 27th, was the Championship night for the UMP Sportsman. There were 19 cars in the UMP Sporsman division. Winning the first heat was Bryan Slover who was followed by Rick Johnson, Aaron Melton, and Danny Beard. Second heat went to Mark Bohnenstiehl, then Ryan Eilers, Rob Lee, and Jim Lafferty. Third heat went to the 2009 UMP Sportman Champion, Russell Eilers. He led Jon Ripperda, Steve Stevenson, and Mark Pflueger. For the 14th time this season, Russell Eilers took the checkered flag in the Feature. He was chased by Greg Spencer, Ryan Eilers, Rob Lee, Rick Johnson, Bryan Slover, Tory Ernst, Steve Stevenson, Jim Lafferty, Nathan Schmitt, Mark Pflueger, Mark Bohnenstiehl, Danny Beard, Mark Schnurbusch, Andy Casper, Dennis Wernle, Jon Ripperda, Aaron Melton, Curt Loddeke DNS, and Allan Geiseking DNS.

There were 36 Factory Stocks that came to claim the $1,000 to win first prize for the Factory Stock Nationals. First heat winner was Matt Hamblin, then Eldon Hemken, Justin Shaw, and Allen Guthrie. Second heat saw Gary Newport take the lead over Bob Zbinden, Nick Knebel, and Austin Isaak. Third heat top dog was Chirs Fisher, then Jordan Suhre, Dan Dodson, and Dale Bohnenstiehl. Foruth heat saw Rob Shaw lead the pack of Sean Denison, Eddie Sterns, and Charlie Durbin. Consi number one order of finish was Tracy VonRohr, Gabe Harrrison, Trevor Isaak, and Randy Horner. Second consi finish line-up was Jason Suhre, Justin Suhre, Chad Burgess, and Joe Swip. It was Rob Shaw who claimed first prize in the Feature. He was chased by Zbinden, Newport, Fisher, Hambli, Hemken, Denison, Jordan Suhre, Justin Shaw, Nick Knebel, Austin Isaak, Justin Suhre, Trevor Isaak, Dodson, Swip, VonRohr, Durbin, Horner, Sterns, Jason Suhre, Bohnenstiehl, Harrison, Guthrie, and Burgess.

The UMP Pro Late Model class had 18. Taking the first heat was Aaron Heck, then Casey Montague, Ryan Seger, and Johnny Prior. Bobby Martintoni took the second heat over Bobby Dauderman, Daniel Heck, and Brent Lewis. Third heat went to Brant Kehrer, then Tait Davenport, Shannon Kuhn, and Jason Zobrist. Taking the checkered flag in the Feature was the Italian Stallion, Bobby Martintoni. He was followed by Daniel Heck, Aaron Heck, Dauderman, Montague, Clay Baumann, Prior, Matt Santel, Bobby Pierce, Kehrer, Justin Vosholler, Zobrist, Seger, Lewis, Kuhn, Davenport, Mark Sanders DNS, and Tim Hancock DNS.

Seventeen Street Stock drivers wanted to take the checkered flag. First one to get that flag was Brad Venhaus in the first heat. He led Dennis Ponder, Jeff Buss, and Stephen Fohne. Second heat went to Larry Smith, Jr, then Zach Hoffman, Justin Leichsenring, and TJ Eilers. Third heat saw Darrell Beckham beat out Mike Mosley, and Kyle Blair. Feature winner was Zach Hoffman. He took the checkered flag and was followed by Venhaus, Buss, Ponder, Smith, Jr, Leichsenring, Stephen Fohne, Shaun Hortsmann, Terry McCann, Eilers, Pete Cory, Brian Crawford, Stephen Flannery, Jr and Jake Hewitt DNS. Second Feature order of finish was Brad Vennhaus, Beckham, Mosley, Kyle Blair, Smith, Jr, McCann, Buss and Hewitt DNS.

The second Sportsman Feature of the evening belonged to Ryan Eilers. He crossed the finish line ahead of Dennis Wernle, Russell Eilers, Steve Stevenson, Jon Ripperda, Tory Ernst, Mark Pfluleger, Danny Beard, Nathan Schmitt, Rick Johnson, Jim Lafferty, Mark Bohnenstiehl, Bryan Slover, Mark Schnurbusch, and Rob Lee.

The 2009 Banquet will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Lindendale Park Ballroom at the fairgrounds. Thanks to all the drivers of 2009 for another great season of racing at the Highland Speedway.
