Highland Speedway raced against Mother Nature Saturday Night, Mother Nature took home the Checkered Flag!

HIGHLAND, IL (JUNE 18, 2013) Saturday started out as awesome weather quickly turned into a race against Mother Nature. It was an action packed night with 110 cars ready to race. The Highland Speedway drivers, teams, and crew did a great job of completing the Grapperhaus Night of Destruction Rollover Contest, UMP Sammie’s KidModz, and UMP Hamel Coop Street Features. Mother Nature took over during the UMP Steve Schmitt Modified Feature and forced her hand, causing the feature to end early due to the rain. We had to call the rainout and will run the Late Model, Micro, and SportMod Features on upcoming nights. We have had great car counts so far this year, Saturday night included, with 110 cars ready to race. All of us at Highland Speedway would like to send out a huge thank you to all the teams, drivers, and crews that supported Highland Speedway on Saturday nights! We could not make it happen without all of your hard work and dedication, thank you! Grapperhaus Night of Destruction Rollover Contest ran during intermission with Shaun Horstmann, Brett Eilerman, and Brett Heinz taking center stage. Shaun came out on top rolling his ride and then taking off and rolling it all over again. These crazy guys put on an awesome show. The Pick 3 will be announced after we complete the Micro feature on August 10th.

It was an awesome night with full field of 27 UMP Late Models racing at Highland Speedway. Ryan Little took the checkered flag in the first heat of Late Models followed by Rick Salter and John Beck. Mike Schulte took the checkered flag in the second heat race race followed by Billy Faust and Michael Kloos. Greg Kimmens took the checkered flag in the third heat race followed by Dan Jacober and Randy Myers. Richie Standridge took the checkered flag in the fourth heat race followed by Chad Zobrist and Jason Zobrist. Michael Jacober took the checkered flag in the Consi race followed by Mike Hammerlee and Bobby Martintoni. Mike Schulte won the dash followed by Dan Jacober and Chad Zobrist. The Late Model Feature will be run on CHS & Excel Bottling Christmas in July Saturday, July 13, 2013.  

The UMP Steve Schmitt Modifieds had a great night of racing with a full field of 21 cars racing at Highland Speedway. Robbie Eilers took the checkered flag in the first heat of Modifieds followed by Chris Smith and Justin Ketrow. Mike Harrison took the checkered flag in the second heat race race followed by Ryan Driemeyer and Eric Goetter. Brett Cygan took the checkered flag in the third heat race followed by Brian Bielong and Tyler Deibert. Mike Harrison won the dash followed by Robbie Eilers and Brian Bielong. Mother Nature took over during the Feature and forced her hand causing the Modified Feature to conclude during a caution in Lap 11 with Robbie Eilers taking home the checkered flag in the UMP Steve Schmitt Modified Feature with Mike Harrison and Brian Bielong not far behind.

The Daum Insurance Outlaw Micros had a great night of racing with a field of 18 cars racing at Highland Speedway. Joey Wirth took the checkered flag in the first heat of Micros followed by Ryan Mueller and Thunder Addison. Kurt Westerfield took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Lucas Pejakovich and Tyler Vantoll. Matt Ponder took the checkered flag in the third heat race followed by Jake Neuman and Nick Harris. The Micro Feature will be run on Kids Bicycle Blowout Night Saturday, August 10, 2013. The Micros will be racing at Highland Speedway next on Family Fun Night Saturday, June 29, 2013.

The UMP B-Dry Solutions SportMods had a great night of racing with a full field of 21 cars racing at Highland Speedway. Chris Smith took the checkered flag in the first heat of SportMods followed by Steven Ellison and TJ Eilers. Jake Hewitt took the checkered flag in the second heat race race followed by Jeremy Thoele and Brett Eilerman. Billy Knebel Jr. took the checkered flag in the third heat race followed by Steve Stevenson and Lance Deiters. The SportMod Feature will be run on Family Fun Night Saturday, June 29, 2013.    

The UMP Hamel Coop Street Stocks had a great night of racing with a field of 18 cars racing at Highland Speedway. Dale Bohnenstiehl took the checkered flag in the first heat of Street Stocks followed by Jarrett Stryker and Josh Bauer. Jacob Tompkins took the checkered flag in the second heat race race followed by Austin Isaak and Fred Sparks. Austin Isaak took home the checkered flag in the UMP Hamel Coop Street Stock Feature with Jacob Tompkins and Josh Bauer not far behind.

The UMP Sammie’s KidModz continue to show improvement in their racing and had a field of 5 cars. Zane Ulmer took the checkered flag in the KidModz heat race followed by Ryan Hamilton and Cade Juenger. The UMP Sammie’s KidModz feature ran during intermission, Zane Ulmer took home the checkered flag followed by Ryan Hamilton and Blake Bailey.  

Saturday, June 22nd brings CHS Leaps of Love Family Night to Highland Speedway. Saturday night will be the third night of Double Down Crate racing action at Highland. Bring the family out for a fun night of racing action that features the UMP Late Models, UMP Steve Schmitt Modifieds, UMP Miller Lite Crates, UMP B-Dry Solutions SportMods, & UMP Hamel Coop Street Stocks. Pits Open at 3:00 pm, Grandstands Open at 5:30 pm, Pill Draw by 5:45 pm, Drivers Meeting at 5:45 pm, Hot Laps at 6:00 pm, Racing Starts at 6:30 pm. Box Seats are $15.00, General Grandstand Admission is $12.00, kids 10 and under are free with a paid adult admission. Pit Passes are $30.00 and pit passes for kids 10 and under are $15.00 (Kids in the pits must have parental supervision at all times.)
