It was a Cold Season Opener with the Lucky 40 at Highland Speedway Saturday, March 29th!

HIGHLAND, IL (March 30, 2014) Saturday was Highland Speedway’s season opener and Old Man Winter and Mother Nature did their best to delay it yet another week, but we braved the cold and damp conditions and had a bumpy first night.  The Lucky 40 kicked off the 2014 racing season at Highland Speedway with an action packed night with the UMP Late Models, UMP Steve Schmitt Modifieds, UMP B-Dry Solutions SportMods, UMP Hamel Coop Street Stocks, and the Daum Insurance Outlaw Micros.  The Lucky 40 started the season off with 86 cars ready to race. 

The UMP Late Models had a field of 17 cars racing at Highland Speedway.  Chad Zobrist took the checkered flag in the first heat of Late Models followed by Greg Kimmens and Michael Kloos.  Randy Korte took the checkered flag in the second heat of Late Models followed by John Beck and Matt Santel.  Chad Zobrist won the Huddle House Dash followed by John Beck and Ryan Little.  Michael Kloos took the checkered flag in the UMP Late Model Feature and went to the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with John Beck and Greg Kimmens not far behind.  It was a great night of exciting racing action.   

The UMP Steve Schmitt Modifieds had a full field of 25 cars racing at Highland Speedway.  Aaron Kleine took the checkered flag in the first heat of Modifieds followed by Robbie Eilers and Dennis Ponder.  Brock Bauman took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Jeremy Thoele and Zach Schantz.  Mike Harrison took the checkered flag in the third heat race followed by Dean Hoffman and Justin Ketrow.  Mike Harrison took home the checkered flag in the Huddle House Dash followed by Dean Hoffman and Robbie Eilers.  Dean Hoffman took home the checkered flag in the UMP Steve Schmitt Modified Feature and celebrated in the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Aaron Kleine and Dennis Ponder not far behind. 

The Daum Insurance Outlaw Micros had a field of 12 cars at Highland Speedway.  Joe Miller took the checkered flag in the first heat of Mircos followed by Chad Elliott and Jacob Patton.  Ryan Mueller took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Austin Vantoll and Brad McDainel.  Joe Miller took home the checkered flag in the Daum Insurance Outlaw Micro Feature and celebrated in the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, after the race was called for safety reasons after Joey Wirth and Jacob Patton took hard flips.  Brad McDaniels and Carlee Gress were not far behind finishing second and third. 

The UMP B-Dry Solutions SportMods had a full field of 20 cars racing at Highland Speedway.  TJ Eilers took the checkered flag in the first heat of SportMods followed by Steven Ellison and Justin Durbin.  Tyler Diebert took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Rob Lee and Jerry Thompson.  Ryan Eilers took the checkered flag in the third heat race followed by Bobby Mahan and Curt Loddeke.  Ryan Eilers took home the checkered flag in the UMP B-Dry Solutions SportMods Feature and went to the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Tyler Diebert and Steve Ellison not far behind. 

The UMP Hamel Coop Street Stocks finished up the night with a field of 12 cars racing at Highland Speedway.  Dan Pikington took the checkered flag in the first heat of Street Stocks followed by Trevor Issak and Wade Glover.  Eric Harris took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Adam Koch and Jacob Rexing.  Dan Pikington took home the checkered flag in the UMP Hamel Coop Street Stock Feature and went to the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Trevor Isaak and Wade Glover not far behind.
