HIGHLAND, IL (JULY 17, 2013) Christmas time is always special, and every year Highland Speedway celebrates Christmas in July. This year was no different; Highland Speedway Junior Fan Club members got a special treat and received Christmas gifts. It was an action packed night with the UMP Late Models double features, UMP Steve Schmitt Modifieds, UMP Miller Lite Double Down Crates, UMP B-Dry Solutions SportMods, and the UMP Hamel Coop Street Stocks, 101 cars ready to race. There was no Pick 3 winner this week, the Pick 3 will return on Saturday, July 20, 2013 with a $300 jackpot.
The night started out with the UMP Late Model makeup feature from June 15th. The field was set with 27 cars. Billy Faust took the checkered flag in the UMP Late Model Feature and headed to the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Rick Salter and Jason Zobrist not far behind. The UMP Late Models had a great night of racing with a full field of 27 cars racing at Highland Speedway. Michael Kloos took the checkered flag in the first heat of Late Models followed by Daryn Klein and Steve Leach. Dan Jacober took a wild ride and ended up upside down during the makeup feature, however during the second heat race he managed to come back and take the checkered flag followed by Jason Zobrist and Richie Standridge. Rick Salter took the checkered flag in the third heat race followed by Clay Baumann and Michael Jacober. Dan Jacober won the dash followed by Rick Salter and Clay Baumann. Mike Hammerlee took the checkered flag in the Consi followed by Travis Horner and Mike Schulte. Rick Salter took the checkered flag in the UMP Late Model Feature and went to the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Dan Jacober and Matt Bailey not far behind. It was a great night of exciting racing action.
The UMP Steve Schmitt Modifieds had a great night of racing with a field of 28 cars racing at Highland Speedway. Robbie Eilers took the checkered flag in the first heat of Modifieds followed by Chris Smith and Zach Schantz. Zach Hoffman took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Aaron Kleine and Zeb Moake. Dean Hoffman took the checkered flag in the third heat race followed by Brian Bielong and Ryan Driemeyer. Tim Hancock, Sr. took the checkered flag in the fourth heat race followed by Tyler Deibert and Eric Goetter. Tyler Deibert took home the checkered flag in the Dash followed by Brian Bielong and Zach Hoffman. Matt Koch took home the checkered flag in the Consi followed by Derek DuBree and Dan Schulp. Brian Bielong took home the checkered flag in the UMP Steve Schmitt Modified Feature and celebrated in the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Robbie Eilers and Dean Hoffman not far behind.
The UMP Miller Lite Crates returned to Highland Speedway with 13 cars for the July Double Down. Aaron Heck took the checkered flag in the first heat of Crates followed by James Edens and Dick Taylor. Chad Zobrist took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Rick Salter and Bobby Martintoni. Aaron Heck took home the checkered flag in the UMP Miller Lite Double Down Crate Feature and celebrated in the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Chad Zobrist and James Edens not far behind.
The UMP B-Dry Solutions SportMods had a great night of racing with a full field of 21 cars racing at Highland Speedway. Rob Lee took the checkered flag in the first heat of SportMods followed by Dennis Wernle and Marty Smith Jr. Butch Kuhn took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Jake Hewitt and Brett Page. Jeremy Thoele took the checkered flag in the third heat race followed by Steven Ellison and Shaun Horstmann. Jeremy Thoele took home the checkered flag in the UMP B-Dry Solutions SportMods Feature and went to the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Jake Hewitt and Marty Smith Jr. not far behind.
The UMP Hamel Coop Street Stocks had a great night of racing with a field of 12 cars racing at Highland Speedway. Jason Worley took the checkered flag in the first heat of Street Stocks followed by Dustin McClintock and Trevor Isaak. Austin Isaak took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Josh Bauer and Haley Melton. Austin Issak took home the checkered flag in the UMP Hamel Coop Street Stock Feature and went to the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Jason Worley and Dustin McClintock not far behind.
