Pit Stop on Saturday, July 19th to prepare for the Madison County Fair

The Madison County Fair Association Would Like to Invite You to Join Us for the 2014 Madison County Fair Tuesday, July 22nd thru Sunday, July 27th, 2014.

Highland, IL (July 16, 2014) –Join us for six days of fun at the Madison County Fair in HighlandIL.  The 2014 fair will be starting on Tuesday, July 22 and running through Sunday, July 24, 2014, this year’s fair brings many new attractions and many familiar favorites will return.  There will be lots of fun activities for the entire family.  We will have pony and camel rides all week long including a petting zoo to get up close and personal with some fun animals.  There are nightly grandstand events as well as free music nightly under the Main Pavilion.  Parking is $4.00 per car and admission to the fairgrounds is FREE!  We have week long parking passes available for $15.00 and you can find a free lunch time parking pass located in the Madison County Fair Book that is good Tuesday – Friday from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm (must have coupon).  The Madison County Fair Book is available at various locations throughout MadisonCounty and available online at www.madcofair.com

The first day of events Tuesday, July 22nd is Senior Day with fun activities including Bingo and more.  All seniors will receive half price parking before 5 pm with ID Verification.  The fair starts off at 10 am with the opening ceremonies and the 4-H Dairy Show and from then on; it is non-stop all week long with a huge variety of events throughout the day. Tuesday’s events include opening ceremonies, the 4-H Dairy Show, 4-H Dog Show, and more.  This exciting day winds up with Carnival Rides, the I.T.P.A. Truck & Tractor Pull in the arena that will begin at 6 pm, and at 8 pm listen to the music from the Riverside Tavern Revival Band and dance the night away under the Main Pavilion.

On Wednesday, July 23rd, day two the Knights of Columbus will sponsor Disability Awareness Day starting at 10:00 am.  This is always a fun day that includes rides, food, and entertainment for several groups of disabled children in the area.  Wednesday also has lots of activities going on Pigeon Judging, Open and Junior Dairy Judging, Poultry Judging, the 4-H Rabbit Show, and more.  Wednesday winds up with Carnival Rides, the MOWA Sprint Series racing along with Highland Speedway’s UMP Steve Schmitt Modifieds & Daum Insurance Outlaw Micros is scheduled to take place at 7 pm at the arena, which is a one-fourth mile banked oval dirt track know as the Highland Speedway, and at 8 pm, enjoy listening to the music from the OverDrive band and dance the night away under the Main Pavilion.

Thursday, July 24th brings us Public Safety Awareness Day and half price parking for Police, Firemen, & EMT’s until 5 pm with ID Verification.  Join us for a fun day that includes the 4-H Poultry Show, 4-H Goat Show, 4-H Fashion Revue, Rabbit Show, and more.  Thursday evening is always exciting enjoying the Carnival Rides, and featuring the always popular Combine Demolition Derby sponsored by the St. Rose Fire Department at 7:30 pm.  Come out and watch these cumbersome machines crash and bash into each other.  At 8 pm, you can also enjoy listening to the music from the Whiskey River Band and dance the night away under the Main Pavilion.

Friday, July 25th brings Agriculture Day to the Madison County Fair sponsored by Farm Credit Services.  This is a fun day with the Madison County Pork Producers front and center bringing their wonderful BBQ to the fairgrounds.  The many activities of the day include the 4-H Swine Show, 4-H Beef Show, 4-H Super Showmanship Contest, and more.  It is also the first day of the Train Show at the fair located in the Dance Hall.  The evening keeps the entertainment going with the Lawn Mower Demolition Derby and the Car Demolition Derby at 7 pm in the arena.  Come out and see who will come out on top of this crash and bash event.  If destruction does not fit your bill, it is always entertaining watching who will get the highest bid at the 4-H Livestock Auction at 7:30 pm.  And don’t forget to check out the Main Pavilion for a rocking good time and dance the night away with music by the Out of Focus band. 

Saturday, July 26th brings another fun and exciting day at the fair.  It is Military Appreciation Day with $1.00 parking for all veterans and active military until 6 pm with ID verification.  Come out and check out the 4-H Sheep Show, the Open Steer Judging, Sheep Judging, the 4-H Cat Show, Train Show, and Carnival Rides opening in the afternoon.  The Farm Follies sponsored by the Madison County Young Farmers are held on Saturday and always are a fun filled competition.  Find out who will be crowned the 2014 MissMadisonCounty at the Queen Pageant at 2 pm along with who will be crowned the 2014 Junior Miss Madison County and the Parade of Princesses.  New for Saturday at the fair is an afternoon full of live music under the Main Pavilion starting off with the USAF Band of Mid America Hot Brass Military Band from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm (pending deployment).  Then the Safe Haven band will rock thru the afternoon from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  Saturday night brings racing action in the arena at 7 pm with the UMP Hard Charger Challenge featuring Highland Speedway’s UMP Late Models, UMP B-Dry SportMods, the 25 Lap Scott Wernle Memorial UMP Hamel Coop Street Stock Feature, and the UMP Sammie’s KidModz!  Enjoy dancing the night away with music under the Main Pavilion by the Strikeforce Band starting at 8 pm. 

Sunday, July 27th brings Family Day to the Madison County Fair with lots of fun family friendly activities.  The MosaicChurch in Highland will be hosting Sunday Morning Church Service at the fair that is open to any denomination at 10:30 am.  We have a full day of activities for the final day of the fair with the Breeding Beef Stock Judging, Swine Judging, Train Show in the Dance Hall, the Miss Pigtail Contest sponsored by the Madison County Pork Producers, the Pedal Tractor Pull sponsored by the Madison County Young Farmers, and the Diaper Dash sponsored by the Madison County Fair Association.  The Carnival Rides open at 1:00 pm and it is BOGO Day, (buy one carnival armband, get one free) with a 2 can food donation, that will be donated to local food pantries in Madison County sponsored by Banner Amusements.  Don’t forget to check out our arena event, T-T Racing which features ATV and Motorcycle Flat Track Racing at 12:00 pm.  It is a fun filled event for both amateur and professional riders.  You can enjoy your afternoon dancing to music from the Cold Shot Band under the Main Pavilion at 3 pm.
