The Kids had a Blast Saturday, April 12th at Highland Speedway with Kids Dash for Cash Night!

HIGHLAND, IL (April 13, 2014) Saturday was Highland Speedway’s second night of racing action as Mother Nature kept us from racing the week before.  It was a beautiful day and night for racing with amazing weather.  The Highland Speedway crew did an amazing job on getting the track back into shape from a bumpy first night of racing.  It was a 100% better track and proved for some great racing action.  The Highland Speedway Junior Fan Club took center stage during intermission with the Kids Dash for Cash for ages 6 and under on the front straight away.  The kids made a mad dash to pick up as many nickels as they could that were donated by Miss Metro East, Dairyn Tye.  Dairyn also served as our trophy girl for the night, she is a candidate for Miss Illinois and hopes to continue on to become Miss America in the future.  Racing action featured the UMP Late Models, UMP Steve Schmitt Modifieds, UMP B-Dry Solutions SportMods, UMP Hamel Coop Street Stocks, and the Daum Insurance Outlaw Micros and had a total of 86 cars ready to race. 

The UMP Late Models had a field of 14 cars racing at Highland Speedway.  Matt Weidner took the checkered flag in the first heat of Late Models followed by Michael Kloos and Shannon Kuhn.  Dan Jacober took the checkered flag in the second heat of Late Models followed by Mike Schulte and Jason Zobrist.  Mike Schulte won the Huddle House Dash followed by Michael Kloos and Shannon Kuhn.  Michael Kloos took the checkered flag in the UMP Late Model Feature and went to the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Chad Zobrist and Matt Weidner not far behind.  It was a great night of exciting racing action.   

The UMP Steve Schmitt Modifieds had a field of 17 cars racing at Highland Speedway.  Dennis Ponder took the checkered flag in the first heat of Modifieds followed by Tyler Diebert and Chad Sellers.  Jeremy Thole took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Aaron Kleine and Brian Bielong.  Aaron Kleine took home the checkered flag in the Huddle House Dash followed by Dennis Ponder and Brian Bielong.  Robbie Eilers took home the checkered flag in the UMP Steve Schmitt Modified Feature and celebrated in the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Chris Smith and Justin Ketrow not far behind. 

The Daum Insurance Outlaw Micros had a field of 14 cars at Highland Speedway.  Chad Elliott took the checkered flag in the first heat of Mircos followed by Michael Bustamante and Austin Vantoll.  Carlee Gress took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Dylan Benscoter and Tyler Vantoll.  Carlee Gress took home the checkered flag in the Daum Insurance Outlaw Micro Feature and celebrated in the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, Chad Elliott and Austin Vantoll were not far behind finishing second and third. 

The UMP B-Dry Solutions SportMods had a full field of 24 cars racing at Highland Speedway.  Rob Lee took the checkered flag in the first heat of SportMods followed by CJ Volluz and Jerry Thompson.  TJ Frazier took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Bobby Mahan and Brett Page.  Ryan Eilers took the checkered flag in the third heat race followed by Jake Hewitt and Justin Durbin.  Rob Lee took home the checkered flag in the UMP B-Dry Solutions SportMods Feature and went to the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Jake Hewitt and Ryan Eilers not far behind. 

The UMP Hamel Coop Street Stocks had a field of 17 cars racing at Highland Speedway.  Trevor Issak took the checkered flag in the first heat of Street Stocks followed by Cale Hartnagel and Eric Harris.  Jacob Rexing took the checkered flag in the second heat race followed by Dan Pikington and Adam Koch.  Jacob Rexing took home the checkered flag in the UMP Hamel Coop Street Stock Feature and went to the CC Food Mart Victory Lane, with Trevor Issak and Cale Hartnagel not far behind.
